Combinatorial Gems

چکیده
Although this lecture does not contain many offical Olympiad problems, the arguments which are used are all common elements of Olympiad problem solving. Some of these perhaps could have made nice Olympiad problems, if not for the fact that they were already well-known due to their importance in higher mathematics. Most of this is sourced from the excellent combinatorics course developed by Benny Sudakov for Princeton.

A Study of the Technical Features of Gem Engraving Wheels in 13th to 16th Centuries on the basis of Jawāher-Nāmas (Books of Gems)
Gemology is one of the first sciences about which ancient scholars and scientists of Iran and the Islamic world have written treatises. The economic, administrative and documentary aspects of gems in Islamic governments and before them show the importance of this part of science in different periods. The main part of Jawāher-namās (books of gems) has always been dedicated to methods of identify...
متن کاملICD-10-CM Crosswalks in the primary care setting: assessing reliability of the GEMs and reimbursement mappings
OBJECTIVE The general equivalence mappings (GEMs) and reimbursement mappings (RMs) facilitate translation between ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM. This study compared prospectively dual-encoded diagnoses assigned by professional coders with the GEMs/RMs in a clinical setting. MATERIALS AND METHODS Professional coders manually encoded diagnoses from 100 primary care notes into both ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-...
متن کاملHybrid GEMs for Multi-Biometric Recognition via X-TOOLSS
In [1], Alford et al. compared the performances of two Genetic and Evolutionary Methods (GEMs) for multibiometric feature selection and weighting. In this paper, we present two hybrid feature weighting/selection GEMs. Our results show that the hybrid GEMs outperform the GEMs presented in [1], using significantly fewer features while achieving practically the same recognition accuracy.
متن کاملThe shape and composition of interstellar silicate grains ”
In the paper entitled ”The shape and composition of interstellar silicate grains” (A&A, 462, 667-676 (2007)), Min et al. explore non-spherical grain shape and composition in modeling the interstellar 10 and 20 μm extinction features. This progression towards more physically realistic models is vitally important to enabling valid comparisons between dust observations and laboratory measurements....
